Thank you all so much for the well wishes!! 6 months ago I would have told you there's no way I could stay completely sober for this long. Now I'm wondering why the heck I didn't give myself credit before? For those struggling on the fence just know that if you work at it you absolutely can quit. You might not be able to string together many months on your first try but it can be done.

An aside, soon I'll be having knee surgery (not a very invasive one luckily). Obviously there will be some pain pills involved but I'm very fortunate that I've never ever abused them when prescribed. Just in case I'll be putting my wife in charge of doling them out. Better safe than sorry!

Actually it appears my meds conflict with opioids so It'll be NSAIDs for me. Ouch!

It would be arthroscopic so it's not like drilling in to bone but it will probably suck for a couple of weeks. Oh well, I've survived the absolute hell of total insomnia for months so I can get through anything.
