10 Days Alcohol Free
Hello,
I am 10 days sober and feeling really great in this new found freedom. I say freedom because as the fog lifts, I am realizing that I felt more in a mental prison when I used alcohol as a daily coping mechanism compared to how I feel now. I felt so anxious and paranoid all of the time when i drank. Now I am feeling at ease and confident.
Day 8 was the hardest for me. Leading up to that, I had trouble sleeping, was more emotional, and felt like I was going through the motions of life with a haze over me coupled with sadness. I sleep like a baby now.
Had a daily drinking habit that began at 10:30 a.m. and functioned barely on the job and through daily tasks. This habit crept in, in my early 30's. I am 44 now and waking up.
Just wanted to share.

Wonderful to have you with us, 1111spirit. I wish I'd been in my 40's when I quit - I continued on until my life was in ruins.
I agree - we are getting free. Odd how we thought we were somehow helping ourselves to cope by drinking & staying numb. Life was passing us by.
Congratulations on your 10 days sober.
