Made it the first 48 hours
Due to my weird work schedule, I drink wine at noon for a few hours every day. Don't drink a ton but became physically and emotionally dependent on it due to grief and anxiety. Today I made it past noon and didn't drink, so that's two days sober. (I never drink any other time of day so I can count today as a sober day since I don't drink at night.)
It was touch and go today as I felt the urge to drink welling up in late morning, thinking about wanting to drink at noon. I was insanely anxious this morning and didn't know if I could make it through. But I did it. I've achieved 48 hours sober. I feel really relieved that I didn't give in at noon today.
I feel sick to my stomach and fairly anxious still. I have a feeling it's going to take a couple weeks for the anxiety to die down. I'm thinking of hitting an online AA meeting tonight.
I feel fairly awful but I'm praying I can come here soon and say I made it through a week.

Good job on getting to Day 2. Yes, the anxiety will take awhile to ease up, but you will feel better.
It might be helpful if you found something else to do at noon for the few hours when you normally drink. Maybe you could get some exercise, call or visit a friend, go for coffee, anything that will help you to get through those hours.

Welcome to the family. It took me a few weeks before the anxiety settled down but I felt so much better, it was worth the wait.
Do whatever it takes to stay sober. Come here if you have the urge to drink and we'll try to talk you out of it.
