What are you grateful for today?
I've been lost in a hurricane of anxiety and stress since stopping drinking 51 days ago. Negative thoughts swirling all around me consuming most my time and energy.
I'm trying to focus on the positive and pull myself out.

Im grateful that I have family and friends who love me.
I'm grateful for this beautiful weather and healthy kids to play with outside.
I've been listening to a lot of Brandi carlile. One lyric has been resonating with me.
You can dance in a hurricane. But only if you're standing in the eye.
I want to dance in this hurricane.

Number 1 - having the SR family to support and encourage my newly found sobriety!
Mamatembo - not sure if you have found it yet, but there is a thread dedicated to grateful posts: https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...part-18-a.html (Today I Am Grateful For ~ Part 18)

I am most grateful today for Dee and Anna's replies. I was at the end of my rope and near hopeless. On a lesser level, grateful my fridge didn't die, as I thought it may have, as I'm stocked up during this Covid nightmare and can't afford that kind of $$ defrosted loss. Also very grateful for my AC when it reached nearly 90 degrees today where I live. May God bless you all, tonight and all the days to come..
Grateful I'm not dead! That's the only thing I have left. Of course, I do have some family and friends, but they have been largely left in the dark about how bad my alcoholism and substance abuse in general is. We all live no where near each other. They have their own problems and worries. I will beat this.

Grateful I made it 7 nights now with no toxins (apart from cigarettes!).
Grateful I'm financially secure and live a life of luxury compared to most people on the planet, I was watching a documentary about the refugee camps in Burma yesterday... so if you think we have problems...
Grateful I have loving parents who are alive and well, even if they're in Spain now and I can't see them!
And grateful it's a beautiful day and we've had an unusually beautiful May here in Ireland.

I started the Zombies Run! couch to 5K program this morning and got outside before it started to rain. It was really peaceful. It was still dark and no one was up except the burrowing owls. I love watching them fly during the dawn and dusk hours. Today I am grateful for that.
And also the weather. It's one of those windy and humid grey days we get during hurricane season. I don't care for the hurricanes, but the storm weather is the best.

Great thread....
I am grateful to have another chance at a sober life (I might well not have.)
I am grateful for the community here.
I am grateful to live in country, where my rights as a women are protected and I feel safe.
I am also grateful for coffee and chocolate!

I'm grateful that I don't want to drink. Also for my dog, my family, that I have some time off work. That I have options. That I have a safe place to live and enough food. I'm grateful for the rose bushes my sons gave me for Mother's Day, they are so beautiful and I am grateful I have a 'green thumb' for gardening.
I'm also grateful for learning how to stay present and not let the past or the future get me upset (most of the time).
I'm also grateful for SR, very much so. I could not do this without you guys, as I don't really have any support outside of here.

I am grateful for days 35 alcohol-free.
I am grateful for my husband and all of my family.
I am grateful to still my parents, who are in their 90s, and that no residents in their assisted living have tested positive for COVID.
I am grateful that my brother, who had a kidney transplant last November, is well.
I am grateful we have a comfortable home, food in the house, and a garden.
I am grateful for our church, which has live services online, regular email contact, and a telephone chain checking on parishioners.
I am grateful that we are not suffering financially in this crisis and are able to help our daughter who got laid off.
