Lockdown claims a second life
I was very impressed by it at first. I was very young the first time I drove from LA to Vegas. I thought it was really fun for the first few months I stayed there. But I heard my ex's stories, his mom's - she worked in hotels there, constantly saw suicides because people go to Vegas and lose all their money, or go there already with the intent to "live it up" and kill themselves, and said the resorts hide the suicides to protect their image - and I met some of the people my ex grew up with, saw the how the homeless were treated, by the time I left I was praying that I wouldn't die there, that I just wanted to get out of there.
But yeah, part of the problem too is Summerlin and Henderson and whatever other neighborhoods they've tacked on in the past 20 years. When my exes parents bought a house there, they were in the nice part of town. Their neighborhood was still decent and safe, but the community had expanded outward, to these huge mansions and smaller family homes further and further away from the center of town. Between the excess of the casinos, and expanding the neighborhoods further and further out, they used what little water they had to begin with way too fast.
I'm sorry you've suffered another loss Jeff. That's so tragic.
As I've said to you, and others, often I see mental health as every bit as important as physical health.
Good luck with the job - how's your recovery plan coming along?

Well my drug test came back clean, no surprise there. So I start a job tomorrow and to be honest, I really don't want to work right now. I just don't.
But you can bet your butt I will be there. Adversity makes us stronger.

A lot of rural areas in Ireland have been completely ignored by central government and big business. I'm not saying there aren't suicides in urban areas, of course there are, but rural suicide rate is a big issue in Ireland.

I believe the number of non COVID deaths for whatever reason are being ignored. Its a shame.
Well I live in rural Ireland and I believe this to be true also. A neighbour back the road killed himself only last week- a lot of people are getting left behind here
