Does everybody already know this ??
I am just wondering if it's ok to enquire about forum members that haven't posted in a while ?
I assume that their privacy is their business which makes sense to me as I would want to protect my identity if the need warranted it.

I think that privacy is protected because we have user names. If you ask about a person by their user name out of concern, or just hoping they are ok, I really don't see any harm. Moderators?

Hi Cuckoo
People ask about people they haven't seen for a while all the time.
I started a thread myself for people who haven't checked in for a while to check in if they want.
It wouldn't be appropriate to ask someone why they left tho, if thats what you mean?

Some folks inquired about me when I went missing and someone who had my private email address was able to get in touch. I was in turn touched that people cared and happy to send my greetings from afar.
It's all good. As long as there's no speculation involved - that can get out of hand and for some members might deter them from returning.

And, I think if there is someone you become close to, someone you believe you can trust, then sharing an email address can be a good idea. When people disappear, I always hope that they are busy living their sober lives.
