Re: Beach Barbecue Sober weekend - Weekenders 24 - 27 April 2020

Another lovely day here. Got another lamb Sunday lunch coming at 3:30 (on actual Sunday this time!) and really looking forward to it. Gonna have a shower then out for a walk. I’ve not left the house for a week other than to go shopping on Wednesday for half an hour so getting out will do me good.
Hope everyone is well x

Good morning all, it's very quiet here yet, I'm guessing that some of you are still in your hammocks. I've been for an early morning barefoot stroll along the beach ( I wish), the sand does wonders for my feet.

Sauo, your grandmother sounds amazing.

Enjoy your walk Mantalady, we've been on a roll with this good weather, make the most of it.
I suppose I should do some housework, but it would be a shame to be stuck inside whilst the sun is shining. Besides I need the Vit D.

Back later, don't forget your sunscreen.
Keep safe. xxx

That lamb lunch sounds wonderful.

Those biscuits look much better than the old US military hardtack. All my friends who were in the military talked about the SOS. Don't hear talk about it anymore.

There is an ongoing beach AA meeting here in the area.
I always thought I would go someday.

Now I can't imagine going, but it's still a great idea for a summer Saturday evening.

I'm good thank you petals, bored with the lockdown sometimes but at other times I quite enjoy it.
Goodie was actually my great Grandmother - I have never met the Australian side of my family in person.

Daisy, can’t beat a walk barefoot in the sand. I’d have joined you but was having a swim,Â
Anyone feeling peckish.

A snack to keep us going.

Good to see you, Petals.
A nice late autumn thunderstorm is brewing nearby, but looks like it is not coming our way.
Thanks for those delicious looking snacks, Mags. For those in need of something slightly more substantial, I have a pork belly in the barbecue smoker that should just about be done in an hour. I am still working on some vegetarian options.
I think you are right Sao, in some ways I quite enjoy the lockdown too. The other day Mrs H and I sat on the patio just taking in the late afternoon skies and sounds, something we do not get to do that often during the week. Sunday night blues seem a bit more manageable too.

AA on the beach is ALMOST worth being an alcoholic for. I crave a beach right now and a nice 99 ice cream with a flake.
I hope your roast was nice Manta, I am having cauliflower rice with salmon mushrooms and peas. Not quite the same.
I went walking somewhere different today, it made a nice change but it was very busy. There was a beautiful walled garden and the colours were amazing. Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Magnolias to name but a few. Oh and a handkerchief tree in bloom.

Not my image.

Hi, Robbie - did you go to "Edit Avatar" and choose your image?

Thanks. I'd looked for that option but couldn't find it. Most appreciated!

Captain, pork belly on the barbecue sounds delicious, I’m pleased I’ve got room for it.
Kaily, I’ve never seen or heard of an handkerchief tree, it’s gorgeous.Â

Re: Beach Barbecue Sober weekend - Weekenders 24 - 27 April 2020

Thanks for the pupus Mags!
My rhododendron had three buds on it, but one of them fell off...
I am anxious to hear if our Governor is going to extend the stay-at-home order after May 4. Oregon is going to mid-May, and Hawaii until June. I don't know if any of you have heard this, but Maui (where I grew up enjoying beach barbecues) has a nasty COVID-19 cluster originating at their hospital.
I think I'll mow part of the lawn today. I despise the concept of doing battle with photosynthesis, although the chore itself is not too bad. I have a special mower like a giant weedeater on wheels that lets the grass get real tall before I mow.
Have a good sober day everyone!

Good to see you Coldfusion.

Robbie, I think I see the problem. The "skin" you are using to read the threads is probably carbon or carbon new. In order to post photos or, as in this case a screen grab, I have to switch to next gen desktop (which I really don't like and only use to post photo/screenshots) So the screenshot is of the little activation box at the bottom left of your screen - go to next gen desktop and then you can go to edit avatar and add a custom pic.

Hi Robbie
Hi Mags
I've decided to upload a Newcastle United avatar. I'm missing the football though at least it means Newcastle aren't losing any games! Sadly it looks like the entire football season is going to be ended as I can't see any vaccine for coronavirus being found before the end of the year. Possibly not even this time next year. It really is making me very anxious.

I'm on Carbon and can see my avatar as well as your own and others too. Is my Newcastle United avatar showing for you? I can see it fine in the Carbon skin.

Robbie, it's visible in all the views.
