Extended Vacation..Sailing Sober - Weekenders 17 - 20 April 2020
Hi Weekenders!
We're planning a big trip out to the grocery store and post office this afternoon. I suggested to my wife that we flip a coin to determine who goes in the store, but I'll probably do it because she is several years older. I think we are going to be living like this for a long time...
I just posted this picture on Flyertalk, so I'll post it here too. From Kuilima, Oahu:

Hi Snoozy - How are you doing?
I just found out that the "stay at home" order for Wisconsin has been extended until May 26th. That means for sure my high school senior will not get to go back to school, and that there will be no graduation ceremony. I'll be stuck working at home for another 5 weeks. I have been trying to just go with the flow here, practice serenity, let go, yadda yadda yadda. But I will admit that right now, I am pretty darn unhappy.

I'm sure that a lot of people feel the same way. It's been pretty much business as usual for me, but unless things begin returning to normal, it won't stay that way.
We just need to remain vigilant and it will pass in time.

Morning, shipmates!
I've just watched the sunrise and it's gorgeous!
Somebody said a snorkeling tour?
I am in!
I remember when I was on vacations at Maldives I went for a snorkeling tour with a marine biologist who showed us all the kinds of spectacular flaura and fauna of the ocean. The water was so clear that looking down was like looking into the space upside down - just the dark abyss I coudln't take my eyes off.
Gotta run.
See you)

Morning shipmates.
Willow, me too for snorkeling if MantaLady is available., I think Midnight will join us too! Oh yes, we crossed posts, Midnight is keen too. That sounds a good trip with the marine biologist.
Hi Hawkeye.
Going to have a quick swim, see you later.

Hi lovelies!! Yes, I am gonna do some snorkelling trips but will see how I get on as got a runny nose, one of the glands in my neck is swollen and tender. Hoping it clears quickly, can’t possibly have caught anything from anyone as haven’t been within 2 metres of another human being and only been shopping once a week for a month!!
Sorry I have not been pulling my weight on the Serenity this week, been super busy with work but have kept to my deal of logging off at a proper time etc. Not only that I have stayed sober! Did have some major cravings a couple of days but used all my tools and all’s well. x

Hi Weekenders,
Very glad to see that we have extended the voyage of the Serenity - thanks again Mags! I'm up for snorkelling, sounds lovely, but my childhood 'teach it to myself' attempt at scuba diving in a friend's pool was a bit scary.
So our lockdown here has been extended for another 3 weeks. Never mind - it seems to be working. I saw a T-shirt the other day that said 'Software Engineer: Expert at self isolating' or something to that extent. Perhaps that's true of me but even in the midst of my densest projects I normally make time to go into town for a coffee and some company. Still, I'm gratefully sober and this too will pass.
Anyway, back to writing documentation... Best wishes to all. Forwards.

Good morning all.
Snorkeling is one of the few things that my wife, kid, and I all enjoy doing as a family. A couple of years ago, we were on a small cruise boat (16 passengers) and were doing daily snorkeling excursions. On the second dive, there were rocks and it dropped nearly straight down to just bottomless dark blue. There were seals and cormorants on the rocks and swimming around with us. It was very beautiful, but we had been seeing some behemoth sharks from the boat and I was absolutely petrified. Thank goodness we didn't see any while snorkeling that were over six feet - two meters.
