Day 1....again
I am a failure. I have pain near my liver and I didnt get any sleep last night. I'm exhausted but have to work in a few hours.
I need to change something because clearly this isn't working for me. I've drank 3 times this year .

With the coronavirus...you could call in and say you feel like you have a fever..but then you have to be prepared to be out of work for 14 days....can you do that and get yourself sober and rested? OR would staying home make it worse?

AR - I agree - not a failure. Sometimes we just need further convincing. It never leads to anything but pain & misery - it's exhausting. You sound ready to get free for good - and we know you can.

If I had appeared here on SR at the beginning of my trying to quit, there would have been about 3 years worth of threads that looked something like.
I'm xx days sober, feel better, this is great, I'm proud of myself and blah blah blah.
Followed by
Day xx ... It happened again ☹️ and blah blah blah.
As has been mentioned, it's not failure till you actually give up trying to give up. Its just the usual bumps in the road that most of us have been through.

You aren't a failure, you are sick. Find a defense against that first drink. Mine is praying and then contacting another alcoholoc either on SR or via AA meetings or people I know in the fellowship. You just have to stay away from the first drink. If you don't have the first drink you can't get drunk. ❤❤

What you’re doing isn’t working in terms of keeping you sober. Therefore you need to try something else. Bottom line though you cannot take that first drink; post here, call somebody, eat loads of ice cream before you take a drink 🙏
