Ready

Hello everyone!
I searched for a forum focused on addiction and recovery with the hopes of community. I am currently in addiction and want out so badly. I have a detox at home date set for myself for 4/18/20. I am taking off 9 days from work starting on this date. I am a heavy oxycodone user and I am beyond tired!!! I hope to hear what others have done in my situation from experience and what worked and didnt work. I bought a bunch of OTC items Im hoping will help. Plus I have been saving up my non-narcotic anxiety med, hydroxyzine, which I have read can help with opiate withdrawal. I am very hopeful and excited to get my life back and just be happy again and regain back energy and clear mindfulness!! I know its not gonna be easy but Im ready for the struggle because I know their will be a great reward in the long run!! If anyone has any suggestions or encouragement for me I will take it with an open mind and heart.
Thanks for listening!

You have made a great decision for yourself Simplysyrine. It'll be so good when you are free of narcotics and the misery they bring. Alcohol same. Benzo's too.

I no longer want to relinquish my life to addiction. So much more to be had. Life.

Wishing you every success Simplysyrine.

Welcome simply!
Congrats on the decision to get clean. Like Dee said this place is full of support. Stick around. You'll get through this.

My advice, read as much as possible and see how it relates to you. Listen to those who have been there and are maintaining sobriety.
Possibly the most important, if you feel the urge to use POST here BEFORE you do. Talking about it really does help the urge go away.

Good luck

Very supportive forum/community here. You found a great place. Its mostly drinkers here in this section but welcome either way. I know you will find alot of advice. Just by staying here and reading alot will do alot to change your mindset and make you prepared to make a lasting effort at quitting. Dont go back either. Just do it and keep it that way. Dont f around. Quit and make it stick and go back to enjoying life and not being out of it all the time.

There are lots of things available if you look hard
enough for them. However, Id research first, ask
question before ever imjesting a substance that
would set you back in your own recovery.

I was not familar with Kratom and had to do my
own personal research to learn about it and this
is what I found for my own peace of mind and
cureosity and can see that it would definitely
interfere with my own recovery and would need
stay clear of it due to mind altering properties in it.

Kratom is a tropical tree (Mitragyna speciosa) native
to Southeast Asia, with leaves that contain compounds
that can have psychotropic (mind-altering) effects.

How does kratom affect the brain?

Two compounds in kratom leaves, mitragynine and
7-α-hydroxymitragynine, interact with opioid receptors
in the brain, producing sedation, pleasure, and decreased
pain. Mitragynine can also interact with other receptor
systems in the brain to produce stimulant effects.

I dove into this recovery thing with a mindset that I should not need anything to alter my body or mind. That's what I was trying to get away from to start with. Why start a new addiction? I quit everything at the same time and I'm glad I did. It took quite a while to feel better but it was so worth it. Best wishes for you on your journey!

Please stay away from Kratom. It can be as addicting as Narcotics. Withdrawing from that was worse for me than alcohol. There isn't a physician that won't absolutely cringe when you mention Kratom.

Hi Third Person and welcome

Not sure if you're speaking from personal experience or not but there's been a lot of threads on how addictive Kratom is and how difficult it is to get off the stuff.

Check out the Substance abuse forum and do a bit of a search.

I'm with Head East on this one.

I apologize for offending anyone. Yes, I have detoxed from heavy oxycodone use. This was meant as something to look into to make the first few days bearable, not as something long term. I agree with all that the goal should be to be free from anything addictive.

Again, sorry, and please disregard my earlier post.

Thank you! I am not planning on using kratom! It sounds addictive to me personally. I totally agree!

Thanks! 😊
