Physical symptoms after quitting alcohol — nails

I feel much better, eating regularly, working in new job, keeping my weight, am more active.

Question: i had all the stages after quitting alcohol and they passed. I just noticed that a little part of my fingernails (except thumb) start at the base normal and at tip there is a small portion darker...dark pinkish, reddish. Some kind of discolouration.

Should i worry or is it still a sign of my intoxication before quitting? Will it pass?

Hi Grues0me

our nails reflect our health over the time it took to grow the nail.

I'm sure what you describe is indicative of something but I've no idea what
If you're worried, prob best to check with your Doctor?

D

Basically its not the nail. If i press on it, its normal color, so the discolouration must be under it or sumthing.

Otherwise i am totally ok.

That's NOT normal but can happen with home much calcium and vitamins etc you're getting. Healthy vs unhealthy nail. Your doctor could figure it out.

How long have you been sober? I have no idea what the fingernail symptoms mean, and agree that seeing a doctor could be helpful.

I take high doses of multivitamins since quitting alcohol.

Mine had horizontal dark pink stripes when I was drinking and faded after a few weeks, I think I googled it and it can mean liver inflammation. Interestingly I took migraine tablets for a few days once and the stripes came back.

Interesting, i just got prescribed antidepressants, took them two days, then i realised. May have been there before. Its like a pinkish brownish horizontal stripe, some nails bigger, some less.

They are also not ON the nails, its the skin beneath. When you press on the nail it turns normal color.

Thing is, i work out, i eat healthy, i feel great otherwise. Ill wait then and see.

Point is, if you google it can mean everything from heart problems to liver failure, kidney disease, heart failure or....nothing.
