Glad I quit but what a crap year!

I feel so awful for everyone who is sick or laid off. what a horrible time. I was laid off from my main job but will now work full time from home for a while.
I have worked out from home and also walked each day but I have been eating more so I gained a lot of weight. I am so tempted to drink this weekend.

We hear ya, I hear ya anxiousrock. We are all in the same
boat, but.....drinking wont make what we all are going thru
any better. When you wake up after drinking, the situation
will still be there and so are our mentally, emotionally, physical
selves too.

Coming to SR to share how you are feeling like so many of
us are doing on a daily bases lets us know that we are all supporting
each other. Trying to share ideas and suggestions to lighten
our heavy anxious hearts.

Let those heavy anxious feeling roll off your shoulders and
fill your heart and soul with positivity. Youd be surprised how
how wonderful it feels when someone says, I'm thinking
happy thoughts for you, wishing a brighter, sober , healthy
day.

Its important to not get into negative thinking are trying
to take on the weight of the world for ourselves. Turn off
the news and negative comments and put on something
positive. Happy music. Anything to fill your heart, mind
and soul with peace and serenity.

Some of us here work in our gardens. We add new plants
to attract the butterflies and bring lots of fun, happy colors
to brighten our moods and thoughts.

Find out what other folks are doing to stay positive and
happier while we stay safe and sober at home.

We are always here for you. Stay strong, positive in all
you do. Research healthy foods to eat and maybe plant
a plant in your yard. :)

These are stressful times health-wise and financially and it means we have to dig deeper to find reasons to NOT drink. For sure, drinking will only make things worse. If you're concerned about the weekend, can you do a FaceTime with some friends and/or family?

I could. All of my family lives in different provinces so I guess I do feel lonely.

But at least you're sober.

I say this kindly; for someone who claims to only be a "binge drinker", you seem to give drinking a lot of space in your head..

I used to think that I was a "binge drinker" but, once I took inventory of my drinking....that was far from the truth. Be honest with yourself.

The really positive thing is that you know you can do it.....you just need to keep focus. In terms of weight and health.....I seriously bloat out and feel like crap when I drink....think about how good it feels to be healthy and not have to deal with all the negative drinking brings.....you will just end up feeling awful and anxious and you deserve better than that :grouphug:

Yay, anxiousrock! You are a rock.

AwkwardKitty 03-31-2020 07:46 PM

It's such a difficult time, I am really struggling myself. Don't underestimate how much worse drinking could make all of this.

I don't understand this. I'm a binge drinker too. This doesn't mean we dont recognise the enormous problem we have, but we just dont drink every day. I would drink 3 times a week on average, about 10-12 beers each time, drink to the point of passing oht and it would affect all the days in between too, even if I weren't actually drinking. Being a binge drinker doesn't mean you havent got a problem, it's still an extremely problematic pattern of drinking!
