StayCation Weekend - Weekenders 27- 30 March 2020

:welcome to the Weekenders

As most of us are all ensconced in our homes - what we going to do. :dunno:

As well as staying sober too!

I’ve seen some great innovative ways to fill our time whilst we’re spending this unusual, enforced ‘staycation’

How about a virtual beach run on Santa Monica Beach?

Or the ‘Golden Gate Bridge’ run?

A gentler past time maybe...yoga, or computer games.

There’s so much out there we can bring virtually into our own homes. Plus with all the spring cleaning and disinfecting our homes will be spotless!

What pastimes have you planned this weekend?

https://i.postimg.cc/1RbntVJx/CA9-B5...B2-A61-CFB.jpg

Being at home, let’s not give in to alcohol, this will make the world and our situations seem so much worse. The rose coloured glasses go grey very quickly.

Keeping a positive, sober mind can help us keep a grip on reality.

Oh and let’s not forget the humour! Laughter wants to be high on our list at the moment.

When was the last time you laughed until you cried! I can’t remember either but when I see someone laughing, I can’t help join in...oh the beauty of laughter.

Not forgetting what we truly want first and foremost, and to stay sober this weekend.

I found that the laughter is much more fun without booze.

To anyone reading who is working to keep the country going and in our hospitals and retail, a big thankyou. Stay safe and take care.

If this is your first weekend sober, or many, come join us for support and chat...as we know the weekends can be a struggle sometimes.

(Psst. We’re not just here to talk about the good stuff, if you’re struggling.....please shout out).
(We’re here all week too!) :)

Shotgun?

Sometimes being up at 1:58 AM works to my benefit...now to go read Mags intro! Thanks, lovely. :)

Staycation, yes ma'am. I'm all about a staycation.

A fun project: DIY Cat PPE

Hi Mags, I posted in another thread how it feels like Groundhog day! It doesn't feel like either a weekday or a weekend! :wah:

MantaLady 03-26-2020 02:33 AM

I’m in!!

There is an older couple at the end of our row of cottages who are going out shopping multiple times a day in multiple supermarkets every single day, having their grandkids over regularly who all play outside our houses and are refusing to stay home. It’s making me really angry. The husband is belligerent about it, making jokes about him mowing his lawn so we should all stay indoors while he does it if were so bothered. So glad I am not drinking as if I was I’d probably start a fight with him lol.

Well, another nice sunny day so will go for my 1 walk a day at lunch. I got a little burned in the sun yesterday so think I need to put on some sun screen. I am getting a little bored now if I am honest, house has been cleaned within an inch of its life too! I’ll be working again from Monday from home so that will change my routine and I’ll have less time to fill. Hope everyone is well! xx

IN!

I'm still going to work every day. Most of the staff are gone. Manufacturing floor is still running. Wife and kids are staying home so I do the shopping and stuff.

Lovely to see you Dragon xx

Robbie64 03-26-2020 04:25 AM

Thanks for the thread Mags :)

I'm trying to draw up a list of things to do this weekend. Top one is to cut the grass in my little garden. That will take all of 15 minutes (it really is a little garden!). I'll be going for a long walk each day. Other than that I'm a bit stumped. The lack of sport to watch on TV has made the weekends feel different that normal. All the days seem to be running into one at the moment.

I'm in! Thanks, Mags.

I am going to spend this weekend organizing and tossing stuff. I have a dumpster in my driveway and I've been pitching things into it a bit at a time all week. My grown daughter was supposed to come help me, but she works in a natural food store here in town and is coming in contact with a lot of people every day because they are an essential business and still open and busy. So I don't feel like I should really be in contact with her. There is still a lot of her stuff here in the house so I will do my best to separate her stuff from the rest of it and then she can come over and make decisions about what to throw and what to keep or donate while I stay away from her. But that will keep me very busy this weekend.

Working from home has been a little frustrating for me. I'm learning new lessons in patience (not my strong suit) as others in my organization get geared up for and used to working remotely. Yesterday went better, and I had some good phone calls and e-mail exchanges which broke a couple of logjams I had because I needed answers and help from others who had not been getting back to me. I think it will all be ok, somehow. I'm just trying to do my best and stay calm and get from day to day.

MantaLady 03-26-2020 06:54 AM

Yay! My plant based shakes have arrived, tried the Berry one and it’s not to bad. Going to try the chocolate one in the morning and if that tastes ok too I am going to order some more so I can do this 28 day health kick thang. Obvs it also means less stressing about going out to buy as much food and I can manage what I am spending better too. After just drinking half of one (which is a equivalent to a 400 cal meal) I feel full and satisfied.

I have been desperate to quit smoking for the last 6 months, toying into wether to do this aswell while I am not having to go into the office or navigate a world outside my house but undecided yet. Whilst I want to do it more than anything I don’t want to put my sobriety at risk so I need to think carefully before trying to do too much at once.

Hope everyone is well? x

biminiblue 03-26-2020 07:02 AM

My vote that you didn't ask for is to quit smoking. COVID 19 is a respiratory virus. Smoking isn't going to help your chances if you do get it.

You can stay sober and quit smoking at the same time. I quit smoking and drinking - so have a lot of people. If I can do it.

I'm not sure I could also quit eating actual food at the same time though! I don't do well on meal replacements. Maybe one meal a day sometimes, like when I'm really busy but food is a pleasure and I want to have meals.

Yeah Bim, my chest is rasping at the best of times and I cough daily just from the fags so if there ever was a better time to quit it’s probably now. I am still going to have 1 meal a day and not rabbit food or calorie controlled as such, just going to eat something I enjoy. I love my food aswell!! x

MLD51 03-26-2020 07:27 AM

I quit smoking almost 8 months ago. I still want to smoke sometimes, especially lately, with a big change in my routine and more free time and extra stress. BUT there's no way I'll start again now, with Covid-19 around. I'm already getting close to the riskiest age group, and I really do not need to add something bad for my lungs back into the mix. No way. So I'm resisting, and doing well. You can do it. Please try to quit. I'm SO HAPPY that I quit.
