Thanks Dee.

Yeah, empathy and sympathy are definitely two totally different things. Empathy is an extremely powerful virtue to have, but I don't believe you can learn it -- it's natural.

Heck, even the most powerful man in the world (Obama) said empathy was his strongest virtue. Being able to put yourself in someone else's shoes, and see life through their eyes.

One of my favorite videos of all time, I've watched it dozens of times & shared it with countless people.

Brene is AMAZING Dee, I just finished "reading" Daring Greatly on audiobook during my walks & it was powerful to say the least. Her Parenting Manifesto hangs on my kitchen cabinet along with her Engaged Feedback Checklist. She has really changed my perspective on personal accountability & the roots of dysfunction in today's society.

Thanks Dee...that vid was spot on!

Haha, my most recent "At Least" reminder in recovery was in April 14' when for the second time in life I was required by law to wear an ankle monitoring device. Hey, I caused it...I drank then drove...but, I was bellyaching about this medieval torture device and was told, "At least you have a leg to put it on." Grrr...

I just really love this, Dee. And I find it helpful to check whether I feel empathy or sympathy when interacting with others here or IRL. The vid is a great reminder.

Here's some related content that came up in one of my peripheral subscriptions this week

The Crucial Difference Between Sympathy and Pity

Interesting young lad. A friend mentioned Brene Brown's talks to me also during the week
