Happy Saint Patricks Day

I know things are very low key this year but, if nothing else, the current world situation fills me with admiration for my Irish ancestors and all they dealt with crossing oceans, dealing with disease, disappointment and death, to build a new life.

and of course, if you're struggling with not drinking this St Pats day - let us help

I did ancestry.com and all my distant relatives came from the UK, mainly England and Ireland. I am also a direct descendent of mormon pioneers that crossed the plains and mountains to Salt Lake City. Happy St. Patricks day!

Thanks Dee. The biggest drinking day of the year here and all the pubs are closed! Probably the first time...erm ever! However I'm sure everyone will still be drinking at home- it was the drinking at home that really finished me off. I don't miss the awful hangovers/withdrawals and the panic about trying to get more drink into the house again

Dee - You know how much I love this each year. Makes me cry every time. What they all went through, heart wrenching. Thank you.

Happy St Patricks Day . . . all's pretty quiet this year indeed, very uncertain times, but Sobriety can provide a clear mind when most needed.

Stay safe everyone!!

Happy St. Patrick's (and St. Gertrude's) Day, Dee and all! My mom was extremely proud of her Irish ancestry, and of all the hardships they endured. She loved this holiday, and died just one day before it in 1998. My family came here in 1879 from Country Kerry on my mom's side, and way back in 1691 from Netherlands on my dad's. Wishing all a safe and sober holiday!
