10 weeks today!

I'm at 70 whole days!
I am so grateful and proud to be here!
Unfortunately, my mental health has taken a nosedive and I am struggling with insomnia and depression pretty badly.
However, I'm taking it as an opportunity to learn to cope without alcohol and develop new coping mechanisms so even though I feel terrible, in a way I feel good about that.
I've had a few fleeting AV thoughts about escaping for a few hours, about what's the point if I still feel rubbish but overall I really dont feel theres any realistic desire or chance of me drinking right now. I feel like this time it's really sinking in and they feels good. Now I'm dealing with my mental health head on instead of masking it with an even bigger problem!

Congrats on 10 weeks, nice one. I hope the mental health issues will improve- maybe talk to a Doctor about these issues?

I'm actually at the surgery now waiting to see the Dr!
My plan is to ask for a few days sleeping tablets to help me reset my sleep, at least to solve one issue.

Congrats on 10 weeks AL. I agree with Reid tho - is it possible for you to see a doctor about your depression?

Is it weird that I'm excited to tell my doctor that I'm 10 weeks sober?!

You've done a difficult thing; of course it's not weird to want to tell him or her.
I felt proud to tell my doctor once I finally managed to stop too. A bit of praise goes a long way.

So, I've seen my dr who gave me 3 days zoplicone (only a few as they're highly addictive), signed me off work till Monday for some breathing space. I've washed my hair for the first time in over a week, put fresh PJs on, am about to take a pill and get ready for dreamland. Focus is on sorting my sleep pattern then I can deal with the rest. Its crap right now but I know I've got this

10 Weeks is awesome, AK!! 😎
So glad you've reached out to your doctor for some advice - I really hope the prescriptions that they reccomend work for you and help in some way 😊...
It's great that you're trying to see it as an opportunity to learn rather than something that may hold you back.
Ditto on the whole sinking in finally - definitely feeling the same right now!
Let us know how you get on 😊💜
