If I could make it 8 days, I could make it.

I sat and did almost nothing all day. It felt nice.

I paid my rent, I am enjoying my house.

It has been a mental battle at times.

I now realize the craving masked my obsessive tendencies.

The booze seemed to quell it but then made the obsessing worse as i detoxed.

Viscous cycle. Had to eliminate the booze.

I still obsess, but nothing like before.

Taking responsibility for my situation has been the key to my freedom.

Thanks.

Well done on 8 days. And painting. I admire that, I hate painting lol. Staying busy is good!

Nine days is great! Congrats.

I do hope you have a plan in place for those times when you can't find something to keep you busy and distract you. Unless you're doing something differently than before (I'm still not sure what you were doing before, as you never elaborated after saying you tried 'everything' even though a few people did ask what you'd tried in order to suggest new things) you are at risk of falling into the drink trap again.

I get the impression you want to continue trying to quit by yourself, just by saying 'I won't drink today' If it doesn't work this time, will you seek outside help?

As I’ve said many many many times before outside help is 2 hours away by car ie AA, I have tried exercise therapy tablets etc etc all any of us can do is our best to stay sober and try and change our lifestyle which I’m doing and will please god continue to do so

I know how hard it is but can relate as have been in a similar cycle of getting a few days, even weeks then picking up again. I just didn't get why I kept picking up again especially as I had 3 years sober once. But I know that unless I make drastic changes and do something different I will drink again. I have some health issues now which has really been a wake up call to make some lifestyle changes.

I have SR but also looking at other support. It doesn't have to be AA, there are many more things out there. I hope you are able to do something else/extra this time too.

Good work on day 9 and making it through back to school. It must be easier now that your kids are getting older now. As I recall you have teenagers right? Changing your routine & lifestyle is important. AA is the usual suggestion because people share what works for them. Personally projects, staying busy & yoga work for me.
