One drink is too many and a Thousand Never Enough

Remember this every day that you fight this disease.

Steely 02-28-2020 08:27 PM

Rule of thumb Tyk25. Took me a while to learn. :)

Dee74 02-28-2020 08:42 PM

Hows it going Tyk?

That has always really resonated with me. Just like One Day At A Time. Simplicity is how we beat this thing.

Everything is going great! Coming up on 1 year sober in April.

Nicely done...
Always avoid that Lead drink.

Thanks Tyk - probably another slogan to pint up on the walls of the house. Reminders of the basics is always a great help in remembering why we don't drink anymore.

Yep, very true words.

One year is a great benchmark. At first, it seemed like an impossible dream. Next you saw it coming, but when you finally get there it still seems like a surprise. How can it seem like a surprise? Who knows? Just enjoy it.

Too true for an alcoholic 🙏

HeadEast 02-29-2020 09:13 AM

I love these comments about simplicity and basics. So true.

Primativo 02-29-2020 09:31 AM

It's so true.

If I was to go and have a drink now, I'd drink a bottle of wine and it wouldn't even touch the sides. I'd drink till I pass out, which would be more than two bottles of wine. Mental really.

Thanks for posting this, Tyk. This phrase is a big part of what kept me sober in the early days, and still does on occasion when I feel overwhelmed and want to escape or numb out from challenging situations and difficult emotions.

There is no doubt in my mind where one drink would lead - many more drinks to the point of intoxication, to be repeated again the next day, and the next, and the next. It wouldn't take long for alcohol to take root and spread its destructive tentacles throughout every aspect of my life. I never want to go back to that place again!

Well done Tyk :)
