Proud

Hi! My mantra today is I am proud of the work I've done. This mantra makes me smile every time I say it. Part of the exercise along with this mantra is to list 5 things I was proud of that I've done in the past week. So fun! Try it! It's important to focus on what you've done, not what you should have done.

Four days ago I posted this: This while I'm suffering through dehydration, bad dizziness, poor sleep, exhaustion, lack of appetite, horrible constipation (TMI, I know, but a real problem), brain fog, apathy, depression, wanting to be alone, just wanting to be in my bed...

Wow, that sounds awful and I'm doing so much better now on Day 11. The exhaustion is still there but most of the rest has gone away.

I'm grateful for SoberRecover and all of the support I've received.

MM

11 days is awesome! Day 54 here and let me tell you it gets even better! I'm taking you up on your offer right here-5 things I've done in the past week that I'm proud of:

1. Followed through on medical tests--all health checks are complete (something I always put off when drinking)
2. I kept my cool with my daughter...calm and collected.
3. I gave a gift anonymously
4. I finished the living room reorganizing/cleaning (took a long time--who wants to clean when you're boozing)
5. I stood up for myself at work (usually i let people walk over me but the sober me aint havin' it!)

None of that would have happened had I been drinking.

I'm having days now where I don't even crave it anymore. But of course, this is when we need to be most on guard.

I think of the body as a cast iron stove, like the kind you might find in a log cabin. If we continuously deplete the stove of wood or fuel, it cannot produce the heat to do work. If the stove is stocked with wood the fire can grow and the iron will heat up. In this state the stove can do work. It can cook and heat the cabin.

Sobriety is the refueling and lighting of the stove. In time we will feel the life force returning to us. For me usually it is sometime around the second week. It will not solve our problems, but will enable us to solve our problems if we wish.

Congrats on Day 11 MM

Good to hear that some of the things you were suffering from a few days ago have gone away. And hopefully the ones that are still there aren't as bad as they were.

Thank you, everyone!

Sober45, I did the same with my LR Sunday. Moved furniture and found stuff around here to make it a new space. I LOVE it, and the change.

PhoenixJ, I don't have a plan, I'm going to the sticky notes right now!
