I understand that pains not nice and that the fear of not bringing money in isn't nice either - but this is a finite thing. You will get better 
Ask your doctor for help with your foot by all means if you need it, but your inability to put down the drink is something to discuss with your doctor as well?
they may have some suggestions or ideas?

If you drink you'll put your mind in real jeopardy FinalCall. Your mind will be fine if you pour your energies into remaining sober and healing. These months will pass soon enough. Good luck with your doctor.
In the meantime elevate that foot and sit yourself in front of your computer to post and read here. Yes, clarity of mind is something to be cherished.
