Valentines Day Support Thread
Valentines Day Support Thread
Hi guys
Valentines Day can be tricky for a lot of us - especially if you're newly sober.
Those 'attached' have the problem of how to celebrate sober, those 'single' or estranged or mourning a loved one, often have a pretty rough time on this day.
Both sides have to deal with the temptation to drink or use.
Just wanted to reassure everyone that no one needs to do this alone - if you need help - ask for it
Post here if you need support or need reminding that you're awesome
Lets all make it a sober Valentines day !

Oh my gosh....got really excited for a second there....thought we were all getting a car! s
Kidding aside....Valentine's Day was a giant thorn in my side for a very long time.
So here for support and "awesomeness" reminders.

If valentines day is not a reason to celebrate for you, I'd try to think of it as just another day, another Friday, another end of the week, Mikoss.

Thank you Dee.
I just have this feeling for some reason that I could drink for Valentine's Day and then go back to not drinking again. Like a celebration for hitting 7 days of sobriety. I am at 6 days so far.
But that is what happened on my last relapse. I celebrated my sobriety with alcohol figuring oh well I will just have a little alcohol and everything will go back to normal as dumb as that sounds.
I just need to avoid any temptation to drink alcohol but it is so hard especially on Valentine's Day.

That does sound like a good idea to have some popcorn or chocolate and watch some movies and stay out of trouble.

That way I don't see sobriety on Valentine's Day as a punishment or like I have to not drink because I am not supposed to but because I can control it if I just give sobriety a chance.
