Well done Canadian Koala. Amazing.

Thanks Mags, Sao and fellow weekenders. Count me in.

For me, this Valentines is still special, despite being commercialised. Those of us lucky to have partners, wives, husbands, boyfriends or girlfriends get to be sober and present with those we love. It is a pretty welcome change in our household.

Congratulations CK on 167 consecutive weekends!

Freedomfries, I hope so.

dontlookbacchus, I like the way you look at valentines. Being sober and present for those we love.......that includes our furry friends too.

I got a lovely Valentine's weekend gift yesterday, actually. Not a gift really, but this is what happened. My grown daughter lives a few blocks from me in our small town, and our work schedules are similar, so we see each other in our cars on the way to and from work more often than we manage to see each other in person, lol. Anyway, yesterday morning I was behind her car, and saw that one of her taillights is burned out, so I texted her when I got to work to tell her. She knew it was acting up, sometimes working and sometimes not, and just has not gotten around to fixing it. I told her to be extra careful if she has any drinks and then drives, because police in this town don't have much to do and WILL pull you over for a burned out light, and if they even THINK you might have been drinking they will ask and test you. I got my first DUI that way. It was my way of gently reminding her not to drink and drive, or at least to only have one or two at the most. I worry about both of my kids with alcohol, because of my alcoholism, and I'm pretty sure at least 3 or 4 other people in the family have issues with addiction that they have not/did not address. I do believe there is a genetic element to the disease.

She told me she almost never drinks anymore! That did my heart so much good. She said it just makes her feel icky. She's 28 - I hope this sticks. So that was my Valentine's gift, even though she has no idea how happy it made me.

That's pretty cool MLD. I haven't really thought about the probably of my kid developing a dependency on it like I did. I have certainly done my part to set a bad example.

I really have been incredibly lucky to have never gotten a DUI.

I had the last 2 sentences of this Post kinda swirling around in my Head this Morning, and it fits the current direction here. Thanks to insightful Weekenders for their epiphanies.

I'd already gotten on board with this thematic Day by announcing to MesaMate over Coffee: 'Nuffin' says LUUUUV like Enchiladas by Candlelight'. That floated her Love Boat, so my famous Enchiladas it is later on this fab Weather Day. See Sunrise below. The downside right now is that it's seriously muddy off our Driveway path, and I got stuck with the Trailer yesterday while circling in 4WD to park it on the dedicated Concrete Pad after unpacking. First World Problems. I'll take 'em!

When the Careers of Tina Turner and Joe Cocker were in dodrums here in the States, both toured Europe consistently to pay the Bills. See Joe below singing one from his Mentor Ray Charles to an appreciative Crowd in Germany circa 1992.

Unchain your Heart from Addiction. Unchain yourself from old patterns that no longer serve. Including *Knee Jerk* consumption to things going down in this event called 'Life'. Be there for Loved Ones; 2 and 4-legged ones. Or multi-legged ones, even. The advanced phases of Life can be mighty interesting if ya stick around to experience them fully alert, and present. And, with spare change in your Pocket instead of in the Liquor Store Cash Register.

Get/stay Sober for the one you love. Starting with yourself...

Congratulations Koala!
Good luck freedomfries!

Great post bacchus.

That is so much better than a card MLD. Mine do drink but they do not seem to have picked up my penchant for excess.

Super pic MesaMan, it looks almost autumnal.

Friday and work is done, woot!

Happy Valentine's Day Weekenders! I laughed at AndyH's post.

Good evening weekenders - I'm in!

Some lovely posts today - thank you for cheering me up as another storm moves in here in the UK this weekend. We have five days of solid rain forecast... oh dear...

Thanks Mags for the thread. I'll be spending Valentines Day single as usual but at least I'll not have a bottle of wine as my bedfellow. I had half thought about seeking a date for the evening but realised that this was probably my ego playing up. Mind you, in sobriety anything is possible so maybe it's something to work on...

Mesa and I have something in common - famous Enchiladas! Good stuff. I have been working on my pasta recipes today. I'm sure healthy cooking is a valuable part of recovery and I certainly appreciate food much more without booze.

Thoughts to those struggling - stay close, we're all in this together...

Warm wishes to all as always. Forwards.

Tomorrow is forecast to be an awful day in the UK, very strong winds and very heavy rain. Hopefully it'll hold off long enough in the morning for me to have a long walk. I love staying in on a Saturday afternoon and watch some football (soccer). Sunday I'm going to my mother's for Sunday dinner then back home to watch more football.

I think it's fair to say I'm planning on having a lazy weekend!

Hi everyone
Lots of posts to catch up on
Coles chocolate bullets are my favourite. I haven’t tried the raspberry ones Suze but they do still sell them.
They’re $1.70 a bag. Yum

Morning all weekenders,

Welcome to the thread Robbie and I hope you get to have that walk in rainy old England.

Lovely as always to hear from you Forwards. I also believe healthy cooking / eating is a big factor. For me it's been more veg less sugar less coffee and more home made soups. I have discovered celery. Home made celery soup has become rather a speciality. I had not realised that celery was such a super food.

Beautiful pic Mesa. I hope it was'nt too messy in the mud. Do you not have all terrain tyres on your truck ?

Marty I also believe that there is a genetic dna blood element to Addiction. If my family is anything to go by it's a confirmation. I'm glad your grown up kids are sensible. If I recall your son is gone away to college now. I hope it's going well for him.

Howdy to Mags Willow Suze Andy Cityboy fishkiller CK Sao DLB and anyone else lurking. I think I saw MB connected yesterday

It's home today for me holidays have come to an end, aawww

This is some old french punk. Class vidéo,
Has to be played loud... ✌️

Morning Weekenders

Vinny, have a good trip home. Though it’s passed quickly, you’ll have some great memories to take with you.

Robbie, I’m in the U.K. too and don’t plan going far this weekend either.

Marty, your daughter gave you a great valentines gift!

Have a good sober weekend guys. x
