3 Weeks

3 weeks off the drink and smokes. This is the longest I have made in as long as I can remember if ever. Really starting to feel the physical benefits. Looking forward to making it to a month!

When we focus on doing all that we can to
remain sober and strengthen our recovery
foundation each day, you'll be pleasantly and
gratefully surprised at how fast sober time
flies.

Learn from the past, stay in the present and
look forward to what the future we hope for.

Support sent your way.

Well done CapitalJ.

I'm 57 days no alcohol, and 33 days no smokes. Well, if truth be told I've had 5 cigarettes throughout this time (2 occasions, stress related), but am not giving myself a hard time. I really am learning how not to act on the urge.

It has not been easy by any means. but am beginning to reap the rewards in all ways.

Thank you for all the replies.

Looking forward to making it to 4 weeks this weekend! Not putting too much pressure on myself but it feels different this time. I really don't feel any urge to drink and actually feel excited to wake up without a hangover every morning. Most past attempts to get sober were driven by some mess I had got myself into but this time it is driven by the fact I am just sick of drinking and the serious negative affects it was starting to have on my health.

Wow. That's impressive! I gave up smoking 18 years ago. It was tough, but got it done. I couldn't have quit smokes and booze at the same time. Great job!

This resonates with me and my experience. I do get excited about waking up without a hangover. Just LOVE that! Also, being in a (relatively) "good" place when making the decision to quit drinking seems to me working for me, too. Thanks for sharing.
