Day 10!

Working on Day 10 today. To me, it is a nice milestone - double digits.
I realize that in the grand scheme of a life, it is a small number, but I am pretty dang happy anyway!

Thanks to all of you for being so encouraging to me in the short time I have been here. It has been very helpful to me.

It may seem like a small number, but think how far you've come. Good job and keep working on your recovery.

If you can do 10 days, you can do 1,000 days.

I thought I was doing great until a few minutes ago.
Just sitting here at my desk working, and out of nowhere... powerful cravings...
Hopefully this passes in short order.

Those cravings do come out of nowhere quitin2020. But always remember, they pass.

And 10 days is awesome. Imagine what 10 days of drinking could have produced?

I'm 51 days sober today. It's not been easy, but am so glad I finally saw the light.

Hi quitin

From someone without as many days as you have made - 10 is a huge achievement. Well worth celebrating with a special glass of water and toast your great achievement. Don't give up now that you have done the hardest physical part.

A wise SR member said to me "AV always lies". I use this each time the craving hits and rationalise that it is only a lie and not in my best interest. Then I come here and read some more and eat a healthy snack (in case it is the 'feed me' call).

Next big mile stone is 2 weeks? Only a few days to go and you'll be there.

Congrats!

Hi quitin, no such thing as a small milestone. Do you remember the first day you quit? The second? You made it through those days. Now you've made it 10 days. You can do another 10, and then another, etc.

I'm only on day two (I'm doing great) but I look up to and admire anyone who has been able to resist for longer than I have. You have inspired me. Hang in there!

Thanks, all. I am not going to slip up today. No way. I will focus on today today, and on tomorrow tomorrow.

Just really amazing how quickly your brain can slip a craving in there on you when you are totally focused on something else. The human brain is an amazing creation.

Good work quitin!

The ole AV is tricky for sure.
But the feeling you get once the craving passes and you have succeeded in defeating the AV is 1000x better than the feeling the drink would have given you.

Nice work on 10 days! Keep up that positive attitude and keeping rolling sober. It's worth it.
