Another way to look at it.
There is something wrong with me. (Lots of things actually.) But there is something wrong with everyone else too. I just don't know what their weaknesses are because they are hiding them. Just like I try to hide my weaknesses from everyone else. Nobody is perfect.
But in the end that's OK because I am trying to become a better person. As long as I am moving in a positive direction I am OK with me.
Waking up sober tomorrow morning is positive direction enough for me. I may have a good day or I may have a bad day tomorrow because so much of what happens in life is beyond my control. But I will not hate myself for doing something stupid that is within my control. That's why I am sober tonight.

Different perspectives I think
Its not a recovery quote and I knew not everyone would agree with it - but it fits for me.
I spent years thinking there was something wrong with me, and/or other people.
I prefer this great positive and more healthy way of looking at things

Hi Dee,
Personally I find both messages of value. I can't claim the concept I posted above as an original thought. I heard the concept explained by an old timer at an AA meeting. Only the last paragraph is my POV based on what he said.
He liked to call it "comparing my insides to other peoples outsides".
