well... yeah, slowly killing yourself. I can relate.

I was lucky that my liver pretty much survived my 12 year binge, but my heart didn't fare so well. I wound up with really serious hypertension and it took the doctors about 3 weeks to get my blood pressure down enough that I wasn't in imminent risk of a stroke or heart attack.

About the mortgage you're struggling to pay, giving up the alcohol, besides your health, which is even more important, that will be one of the first things to improve for you. I realized that not only did I spend a LOT of money on alcohol, I'm talking a car payment for a new car (not a cheap one). And not only the money I spent, but I paid nearly zero attention to money, so I would be just wasting a lot of it and not even realizing it.

With the symptoms you're experiencing, I mean a fifth a day, you're probably going to have to get professional help to stop that or at least cut down gradually. You probably can't do cold turkey, too dangerous.
