And yesssss I have learned from you all across various ponds that tapering can be commonly recommended by drs. In my experience, not here and for the reasons we've all brought up.
Regardless? It is ultimately my responsibility to quit. I say it often - stacking the odds for sobriety in our favor, not betting against the house which ultimately, always, definitely wins one day, is just what we gotta do. No matter what others or experts or dr google or wtf ever says.
I say all of this bc I want you and everyone else to be sober and live well.

Is your plan still to have your last drink January 31? Have you been averaging 3 drinks this past week and then go to 0 drinks February 1? How are you feeling physically and emotionally at this point?
Hi Soupcon - today is day one. I have done pretty well reducing every day and hoping it was enough to get me through the quitting in a physical sense.
I started a new thread to mark my real day 1. Thinking I'll probably post lots over the next few days as an outlet to share my pain.
Thank you so much for checking in on my progress - really lovely of you!
