Checking in...rapping up day 12

I am still doing this... I had my 14 days then drank and now im back up to 12.... I almost drank today after work because i had a good day and made good money and luckily my friend picked me up to go eat right when i got out so that stopped my plan...

I hate the romanticizing of it... I just imagined getting a margarita to celebrate my good day. I hate that alcohol is??? such a lie... Need to know how to handle that intense feeling/ learned hábit and i tried to play the tape forward as they say and i couldnt imagine anything bad i just told myself you can just have 1 or 2 and then go home its fine it will be fun... 🤦🏽*♀️

Glad i diddnt do it. But there will be a next time that i crave it... Hoping to gain coping skills... Any tips??? What do u do or tell yourself?

I tell myself - sternly - that I won't drink no matter what, not for any reason. I'm a non-drinker now.

If you were to drink, you would have to start your count over again. Congrats on day 12 and happy day 13.

You always gonna encounter situations like that. Good job on not boozing. For me I ruined drinking by getting sober. Thats a good thing. ✌

I’m glad you decided to stay sober. What supports do you have in place to help you in your recovery?

First of all for me it wouldnt be just one.

Id get sloshed.

Its just not worth it to me anymore.

Its not fun, certainly not attractive, and I just cant be bothered.

The next day you feel like hell, spent money, ignored your friends/family/pets...blech.

Have you read this link rsanchez - lots of ideas here

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-cravings.html

when it comes down to it I didn't seek out and join a place like SR on a whim. I need to be here - and I think you need to be here too.

No matter what that other voice says - remember it's a lie.

I found I could drink - or live the life I wanted and be the person I wanted to be - but not both.

I had to pick one.

Its also helpful for me to remember its not the last drink I should regret, but the first, because that's the one that starts the madness all over again.

Find some life affirming ways to celebrate - start some new traditions

You can do this!

D
