21 months of permanent sobriety

Checking in on my sober app and realized that I hit 21 months yesterday. A good feeling, not unexpected, but something that I remain proud of.

I don't have urges or cravings anymore, haven't for a while. When I'm envious of my wife or friends for being able to have a couple drinks, I instinctively play it out and even that first sip of the poison seems toxic.

I'm a broken record in some ways - every single thing in my life is better now that I'm sober. There are things that I have in my life now that I never imagined being able to have previous. I am still adjusting to feeling like I deserve what has come my way, having torn down so much of my life for so long.

To those in early sobriety, if you need an example of someone who drank over and over, came very close to losing every thing and who used this site alone to get himself sober for good, just go back and check my posts through the years.

It can be done and it's a better life in every way.

Eternally grateful for SR.

LessGravity I really appreciate your post. I am new here living in Day 54 and I cannot stress enough how big it is for people like you to come on here in the newbies' forum and post what is happening with you in long term sobriety. I am still stunned nearly two months in about the generosity of people like you coming on here. It is key to my continued sobriety. Us newbies can just spout and spout because we are motivated, stressed, new and still figuring it out. But hearing from people like you really helps real people like me. Thank you.

Thanks for that, and thank you to everyone else. It was the contributors who helped me as I stumbled and stumbled and to be able to pay it back, even a little, means a lot.
