Jeff - I don't have anything special to add to all the excellent and heartfelt advice above. But I will remind you that you were one of the voices on SR that helped get me sober. I am eternally grateful for that. And you should know that you have it in you to right your ship, and get sober again. It's in you. Stay close to SR.

thank you so much for the encouraging words everyone. Doing pretty good. I'm only at about a 6 out of 10 on the misery index. So not too bad. I've eaten a little and drinking lots of water.

I don;t have anything to add to the excellent posts above except to say recovery really is possible Jeff - and we're all worthy of it

Good start to the day. Normal routine, make coffee, shower, let dog out and feed him. Got a meal in with glass milk and cup of coffee. The structure calms me.

Need to think of the long game. Alcohol is a killer. Maybe not for everyone, but for me I'm sure it would shave years off of my life. psych on Friday 10AM. Should be interesting. (appointment #2).

I have no qualms in painting alcohol as a killer.

Its taken several of my friends here, indirectly or not, and it nearly got me.

It stole my life for 20 years too

Nothing good bout the relationship I had with it.

I hope you are well tonight Jeff. Hope all is well. Y'all in MN are going to get some snow soon. You can use snow removal duties as a tool to stay sober it appears!!!

Sounds like you’re doing well Jeff. Have you thought about any recovery supports besides the therapist you’re seeing on Friday?

I have not yet explored additional recovery support methods at the moment.

Back to 100% today and will hit the gym. Also following several leads for employment which I desperately want. Keeps me busy. Because I am relatively physically fit, when I drink my BP goes way up and when it comes back down,I can feel it. I'm used to it by now. Also digestive system is back to normal which means I have a ravenous appetite and am extremely thirsty. Its a good sign.

Just writing down these thoughts to remain engaged.

Its amazing what a few days makes. Yesterday I sweat out about 3.5 lbs at the gym, it was rough but when done I felt "clean". Even my breathing improves. I need to get back to being consistent and lose some weight. But one thing at a time, right? No alohol in the house and my wife bought some natural herb that she said curbs cravings. I'm taking it yet have no idea if it will work. It helps that I like being sober. My second therapy appointment is coming up in 2 hours.

I really “like” being sober too—it gives me a sense of foundation and peace which is the opposite of how I feel drinking or hungover.

Glad you checked in!

Hope you have a good meeting today Jeff. Glad to hear you are feeling well physically too. I hope you've decided to lay it all out there and be honest with your therapist about your addiction- that's the most important thing that you can do.

Thanks Scott, but unfortunately I showed up on the wrong day. Not the first time I've showed up on the wrong day for an appt. My brother has a habit of locking his keys in his car, I have a habit of showing up for appointments on the wrong day.

I won't hold back, I'm too old and been through too much. I'm not going to hide or lie about things.
