Checking in on Day 5

Hi Everyone,

I haven’t posted in awhile. Day 5 today. In addition to the alcohol, my body is adjusting to not having pseudoephedrine anymore. I feel better each day however and am aware my sobriety is for the best.

I had a wonderful Xmas eve with my parents, 2 nieces, sister and brother in law. I hadn’t hung out with the family in over six months because of my drinking and using, and so it felt special to reconnect with them clean and sober.

Yes. I realize that for a lot of people, they get sober because of their children. I don’t have that added incentive since I don’t have kids. But I can think of my nieces the next time I want to drink or use. I’m back at work, another benefit of being sober. Also, my cobra health insurance from my divorce runs out next month. Because I’m sober, I was able to do the research and get the work done for Blue Shield of CA health insurance to accept and approve me starting 2/1. If I had been drinking, I would have neglected this important issue.

Congrats on Day 5! (I think it’s 6 now).

It’s wonderful to see that you feeling better. I am also finding that I am taking care of so many things that I neglected in the past. Keep marching forward. You’re doing a great job.
