Day 21

Doing really well. Can go to the pub and not drink and my husband brought loads of booze back home and I didn't touch a drop. I can't believe it.

I'm glad things are going so well Herby - but stay vigilant...not wishing you bad luck, but chances are you'll be sorely tempted again in due course - this addiction thing can be relentless, especially early on.

I know that I would not have felt comfortable in that atmosphere early in recovery and have no desire to do it now. Best wishes for you on you journey!

Good job! When your values trump your addiction, there is no addiction!

When you truly value something, you act with the dictates of your frontal cortex and not your primitive limbic system. Your thinking determines your emotions and your actions follow what you truly value in life.

We can't control everything that happens to us in this life, but we can control how we respond when we find meaning and values.

I really could do with a drink. I know I can't just stop at 2 drinks and I get terrible hangovers but I feel like giving in. I know the only chance of a happy life is sobriety. Your advice please everyone. X

Congrats on 21 days sober! Keep going, it gets better as long as you stay sober.
