I think I have, Least. I have 5 amazing grandchildren that I want to be around for as long as possible. I don't want to jeapordize that in any way.

Thank you for your reply!

So, you too are on Day 4, Freedom? I do agree there is much less stress as I have been able to accomplish so much these past days. We can do this!

Forgive yourself.
Glad you're here.
Great advice, Sushiroll! Done and done

Hi Phoenix. I do check in the 24 hour thread and plan on joining the December '19 class. I found the classes helpful in the past as I was helped quite often and was sometimes able to offer support and just listen .

Since I'm retired, I can spend more time here.

Yikes! Today is only my Day 3. Not sure how I miscounted (wishful thinking?) but I stand corrected.

Welcome back Optimist4ever57
We have all been there - no need to be embarrassed

There a lot of great advice in this thread already so I'll just re-iterate: I had to take drinking off the table as an option.

whatever my problem was, whatever my emotions were, there were other ways to deal with them.

Its not easy, but consistently and regularly using the support here helps

D

Hi Optimist,
I love your username.

I'm a newcomer too even though I've been here forever. My last drink was on the 13th.

I decided awhile ago that disappearing from a place that's purpose is to help people with their drinking problems because I go back to drinking is really... counterproductive. Right? So here I am, trying again. Only this time, I'm not trying. I am doing. I am done. As bimini says (and I said above), I've had my last drink.

You mentioned cooking for others. There are agencies that have kitchens that do this - I've volunteered for one in my city from time to time. It's pretty fun, you meet other people, and don't have to clean up at home! If you're in the United States, I think you can call 311 anywhere and they will help you look for such a place.

Glad you're back with a vengeance!

p.s. Some people put that money in a jar and save it for a treat later on. You could go on a pretty nice trip for $4000.

I am currently working the Celebrate Recovery program, worksheets and all. I'm learning some things about myself that are very interesting.

Exercise is the key word for me! I have 3 pups that would love to take a walk with me. I think that block of time I used for napping would be a great time to walk!

I've been writing three things I'm grateful for each day in my journal, which I've been doing for many years. Isn't there a grateful thread? I think that would be another good one for me to get involved in. In fact, I believe I have posted there in the past.

Drinking is NOT an option. Got it.

Thanks again
There is a gratitude thread, that’s another great place for you to post on each day!!

Yes, join December Optimist. I just did. It's good to talk with other people on same timeline.

Your grandkids will love you for it.

Glad you're here with us, Optimist.

No need to be embarrassed with us about anything you have done.

Individually, and as a group, we have made more mistakes than most, certainly with respect to drinking alcohol.

Sobriety is a daily journey for most of us here at SR.

Staying sober is the most important thing we do every day.

Please stick around and keep us apprised of your progress.
