Wanted to drink but didn’t

I’m still feeling a bit shaky and depressed and sad. I wanted to escape these feelings by having a drink. But as someone posted before, a drink will only make things worse. It just sucks though because of the emotional pain.

I just called my sponsor. She is aware of my relapse.
I already have my meeting planned for tomorrow.

Hang in there. And don’t forget to pat yourself on the back when you wake up. You did the right thing. And can do the next right thing today as well. Hugs.

That was a rough day all around Freedom. I'm glad you made it through sober. This morning you will not be half-poisoned trying to deal with all the same feelings. I hope today will be a better day.

If you stay sober these feelings will pass.
I promise but you have to go through them. This last time for me I cried for 11 days then started to feel better. I am glad I went through that period though because if I had picked up a drink. I would still be going through them.
This will pass. Congrats on not drinking. You have another day.

I hear you on the "hole in the stomach." I felt so so awful emotionally for a few weeks. It did gradually get better after a few days, but those first few days really were rough. I cried so much. Didn't know I could cry that much. Stick it out, and it'll get better. Keep in close contact with your sponsor, and post here as often as you need to. Do you have anyone else who can be a support to you in real life? I had a close friend I spilled my guts to in the early days. He was a recovering alcoholic so he understood I needed someone who would listen and understand. Maybe your sponsor can be that person for you?
