BAH HUMBUG! ‘‘Tis the season of - Weekenders 13 - 16 December 2019
Nice pic Mags.
So on closer inspection the wine turned out to be Marks and Spencers, so I decided to take it back. I thought they would let me exchange it but they refused. I ended up telling the customer service lady I was in recovery and wanted it out of my house. I even tried to just leave it there but wasn't allowed.
My next plan was to take it to someone that regularly sits outside the supermarket asking for anything really (actually asked me for my gloves the other day) anyway of course he wasn't there. So it is still in the car.
You sound nice and cosy Manta.
Just back from a walk. Alfie skidded running after his ball then put on the brakes and ended up somersaulting into the mud!

When I quit 3 years ago I had 3 full 40 oz vodka bottles + many open bottles of different liquors.
I wanted to give them to someone who could use them so I had them in a bag for about 10 days but nobody was interested.
They were seing me struggling with my fight over alcohol and didn't want to show me that they were thirsty for these themselves...I still try to understand lol
On the 10th day I decided it was enough suffering : I dropped everything in the garbage and that was it.
I think it was the most beautiful thing I could do with these poison bottles, I should have done that on day one...
Your story reminded me this Kaily.
Guess what my suggestion would be?

Manta you sound really centered. Any time there is snow here I get a bit worried. We tend to either get a dusting or a full-out shut the town down four feet. I don't have an alternate heat source and the power goes out regularly...but it sounds as if you have all your bases covered! Nice. Enjoy.
Sober Saturday mornings never get old. If you are lurking the thread or the site, join up and tell us how it's going. You never have to have another drink.

Howdy ho weekenders !
Hope all are well.
Throw away that bottle K. You dont even have to open it to pour it away. Bootle bank full. I've done it several times.
Been a busy beever over the last few days. Been really enjoying my time.
Last night we went to this little touristy town in the pyrenees about an hours drive away and we discovered this creche in the cathedral. It was really something sprecial. We were the only ones in the cathedral besides a little old man who told us we had about 15 minutes before he locked up, it felt so surreal, a little davinci code...
The photo is not great but you get the scale of the thing.

When I stopped, I had nearly a full case of beer left. It sat for maybe three weeks before I gave it to my dad. I had to tell him at the time I quit. Even though he's a normie, he was happy to oblige.
Back in the ('80's?) when I got my first apartment, I also got my first rent-to-own 21" TV, stereo VHS player I'm sure I paid four times what they were really worth, but hey I wanted my MTV! Back then a 21" inch color tube TV and cable meant you were somebody.
I'm noticing the chocolate liqueurs on grocery shelves and they are taking way too much mental space.
Kaily, just drop the bottle on someones door step.

I was at a guys house today and as deco inside he had this 1979 Peugeot 103 mobylette. Aka bycyclette & cyclomoteur. So he tells me he has had it since new. Restored it twice.. I thought I better not knock it over.
But they were a great invention a little 2 stroke carb 50cc engine helped on with pedals (e.g. going up a hill) eventhough the pedals had been removed on this version.
Maybe later weekenders

Normally when I have lots to do I write "to do" list and it doesn't seem so bad but my most recent one is so long that it has made it seem worse.
I went to the City of London this morning (the financial quarter of London) to spy on a competitor's products. Passed St Olaf's on the way - "the Ghastly Grim" as the cemetery was used as a plague pit. Samuel Pepys and Mother Goose were also laid to rest here.

Well done Kaily, it's like removing a bit of grit from your eye, tricky but worth it.
I went over to the wealthy side of town this afternoon. I wouldn't mind one of these:- it's parked on a double yellow line but I guess if you can afford a Bugatti you can afford a parking ticket.
Edit. I haven't blanked out the number plate, it is Dubai registered I think.

Should get clamped and towed away that'll teach them. I bet my car would be if I parked there. (Wow I sound like an old tooter)
Looks like you had a nice day Sao and you Vman.
Yes it was more difficult than it should of been.

Nice move Kaily.
Saou, I saw a programme on tv a few years ago about super cars just parking where they want in London, parking tickets were easier than finding parking spaces.
Final of Strictly tonight.
I like the mobylette Vinny, looks well cared for.
Saou, interesting gates with the three skulls above. I wonder what the oldest building in London is?
See you later.

Yes, it must be nice to be loaded plus it is up to £15 per hour to park in central London (plus £11.50 congestion charge and a further £12.50 if you drive a diesel. All that and the air quality is still the worst in Europe.
Mags I think London's oldest building is the tower of London (or the White Tower part of it) There are a few bits of Roman Wall left but no actual buildings.

evening everyone.
glad to hear you sounding chilled Manta - - it's a good day for a log fire.
Sao - I used to sit in the porch of that church & drink to keep the shakes at bay when I worked up by Fenchurch Street - grim indeed.
great picture Vinny, I love the church scene. I'm not going to make any comparisons between the mobylette & your 125.
well done for getting rid of the wine Kaily.
I'd doing okay today. yesterday was pretty lousy, not alcohol's fault, but equally it didn't even cross my mind that alcohol would improve it any.
