Not drinking is wonderful

When faced with getting sober a life without alcohol seems like a glum life. Actually it is incredible and opens up a whole new world and way of life and thinking. It’s actually a real blessing. Stay sober long enough until you get this realisation 🙏

It's early days for me, and I know that I must never get complacent, but already, at day 24, I feel better than I expected.

It sure is. I never in a million years thought I would agree with this. I loved drinking and I lived to drink. I thought I would rather die than never drink again . To be honest that was nearly the case 😞 I've had such a lovely evening .My daughter is at her dads tonight, that would have been me getting 2/3 bottles of wine down me. Instead, I cleaned my front room, got to an AA meeting, got some yummy food and watched a movie. The christmas tree lights twinkling away. I couldn't put up my christmas tree before without a drink. I couldn't clean my home without a drink. I couldn't sit and watch tv/movies without a drink. Mind you, I would never remember what happened as I was always drunk!!

Its now 10pm and I am getting into bed and reading SR. I will have a sober nights sleep and wake up hangover, guilt, shame free and not wanting to kill myself.

Life is beautiful in recovery. Not perfect. Still beautiful. I have something today I never had when I was drinking....peace and serenity.
