Getting the interview is half the battle so feel good about that.
Let go and let God this weekend. I have a little plaque on my stand
that I got yesterday that says just that!

I feel deflated.
Like I do after every interview it seems at the moment.
I prepared and prepped.
I had lots of info written on paper taped to my wall.
It was a telephone interview so I could do that.

I don't know - maybe its me getting old and I'm past it.

I find telephone interviews really hard.
I find 'give me a run through of your CV and highlights' leads to me droning on.

It is demoralising.
I hate interviews.
I hate how I answer questions and get nervous xx

Sasha, I've been through a lot of jobs this past year--still believe my decision to leave the original place was sound, but one after another, jobs that interviewed and hired me turned out to not be even remotely as described. I started to feel like the only places that would hire me are the ones where a pulse and a driver's license is all you need.

I spent well over a decade at my previous job before I got fired. Not alchohol related, i was actually almost a year sober at that point.

I suck at interviews. I likely have Asperger's. In some ways I'm gifted, but can be absolutely terrible with people. Even good and sober I went through hell trying to interview. They kept me on the job another 6 weeks after I got fired and then it was another 6 and half months to find temporary work. Then a couple weeks into that found my current job. I ended up with a huge pay increase!

I looked at all kinds of interview tips on you tube and what not. I refused to quit. I prayed a lot and just accepted HIS plans for me. No matter how bad. I will never forget the hopelessness of realizing I have already applied for EVERYTHING in my line of work on Indeed in my region and still didn't have work. Those are the prayers that really matter.

Keep going, do your best, try and relax. When they make you sit in the waiting room and sort of ice you, use that time to control your breathing. Control that and you control your heart rate and keep the anxiety under control. On the phone just relax. Try and have fun with it, like a prank call when your a kid. Dont bs them but dont get too serious. I know, easier said then done but its more practice and better odds that on one of those interviews you will have a good day.

I've been made redundant 5 times now in my career.
I'm 46.

I have never left a job, always made redundant.
Sometimes it was good timing, other times it was a shock.
Like this time.

It's just me and my daughter.
I'm finding it hard because I feel paranoid that they will find out Im not good or they know how desperate I am to find work.

Also after the attack, I am feeling low and sad.
I never mention what happened to interviewers.
I went to an assessment centre for a job I really, really wanted 2 days after I was attacked.
I had visible injuries.
I didn't get the job.
I feel a lot of anger that that opportunity was taken away from me.

I spend most days on my own at home.
Sometimes it feels like I have forgotten how to talk sensibly and converse using my industry terms.

Maybe I have to accept that I won't get back into my industry and I need to do something else.

Good luck with the job hunting Sasha, I did not know you had been attacked, that is horrible. Is there any chance of talking to your GP about getting some counselling? I'm sorry if you have already done so but I thought it might be worth mentioning if you have not had any help for what you have been through.

Sasha, I’ve become a bit of a lurker here on SR over the past year or so, and don’t often post. Consequently I had no idea you’d been attacked.

I’m so sorry. Are you seeking any help for the psychological trauma that might have caused? Maybe worth seeking something as it really seems to have impacted on your confidence.

I’m thinking of you lots xx
