I am holding on to this ^^

It's just starting to get light out and it's nearly 7:30AM here.

So far winter has been okay. Not gonna say any more or I may jinx us.

I'm holding on for longer days, also. Our winter here has already been challenging, and it's just getting started. It's below zero (fahrenheit) right now, reaching a high of maybe 4. Tomorrow it's supposed to stay below zero all day. Add a little wind to that and it feels like -20. Ouch. And we have had quite a bit of snow already, too.

Hi to everyone in my new favourite thread here ;-)

Listening to how cold it is for all of you seems so strange, being in Australia with a melting hot week coming up ......

Hope everyone is managing to keep fighting the fight and staying one step ahead of the AV .
I LOVE being a year sober
I never want to go back to that disgusting non existence of a life i was living.

My children have so much more respect for me .

Life is good without the booze and all the drama that goes with it.

Decent Sunny Weather here for several more Days. From a Local, I bought our usual 'Charlie Brown' Tree cut from the local Mountains where thinning small Trees keeps the mature Forest healthy by limiting resource competition.

Nice Pix here. Happy Holidays, Mon!

That's annoying about your transfer MLD, I'm glad you seem to have it sorted out.

Yes, some days are literally longer than others. (and some days - they just seem that way)

I could not care any less how long it takes from zenith to zenith (it's only a minute anyway) - all I care about is the ratio of light to dark.

It is decidedly in the more dark than light stage in the far NW corner of the US right about now.
Sunrise - 7:46 AM, Sunset - 4:17 PM. No matter how you slice it, not enough daylight.

The eagle eggs are on one-week-countdown to hatch.

my favourite fact for this time of year is that the shortest day has neither the earliest sunset (early Dec) or the latest sunrise (early Jan).

but I'm with you Bim, bring on some longer days!

LOL! I remember when Stella Polaris used to post in Weekenders, as her user name implies she used to live at the north pole (well northern Norway to be exact) She barely got two hours of dusk at this time of the year. I wonder how she is doing, she stopped posting on or shortly after a sober anniversary but was doing well I think.

Lol yes it’s our summer holidays every Christmas. My childhood is remembered by hot sunny days at the beach. Christmas Day is still spent mostly sitting in the swimming pool to keep cool!

That would be like us Yanks having our Fourth of July in December! It would not be the same if our founding fathers declared independence in December.

Willow, one of the shows I really enjoyed on Netflix was Bondi Rescue (I think it was called?) It's about the Bondi Beach lifeguards.

Apparently (well, I saw it) Christmas day on Bondi has an awful lot of drunk Santas getting into all kinds of mischief. It's just wrong! The little furry Santa hats just don't quite look right with bikinis.

Manta I hope you get super long daylight hours in July?!

Bim yes I’ve watched Bondi rescue a couple of times but not the Christmas version, although I can just imagine... Aussies drink a lot, and Christmas is yet another excuse to booze up for a lot of people. Not that they need much of an excuse. I’m going to be the only sober person at Christmas this year. Everyone in my family and circle of friends drinks. And Christmas means they’ll be drinking to excess I’ll have to have some serious sober tools ready...

Morning Weekenders

I just can’t get my head around Christmas in summer!
Then again all our lives here in the U.K. it’s been winter in December and if we got snow it added to the ambiance of Christmas. All I can think is it’s a good job Santa’s sleigh can fly, with all the different seasons he comes across in one night!

MantaLady our daylight hours are near enough same as yours but I think you’re a bit further north than me.

Sunrise 8:16 am, Sunset 4:27 pm today in Winnipeg. So about 40 minutes longer than Manta. But that still means going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark! I have a hard time staying up in the evenings when it's dark.

Another night where I have been up since 2:40AM. Kitty throwing up six inches from my head in the bed woke me up. She is off food - again - I would be too if I was nauseous.

I am tired. I've nursed this kitty. I don't have the answers. I want the answers. *sigh*

Thanks for being here. How many hours till it gets light? Ugh. Too many. Tell me good stories. Sao, make me laugh.
