5 days is wonderful, Benito. I know you'll start feeling less anxious soon.
I'm glad you talked about your health concerns - this is where we can share those things & not worry our family. I was sure I'd done terrible damage after 30 yrs., but so far it's been fine.
Glad you are here.

Congrats on day 5 Benito - share whatever you need to, as much as you need to

Congrats on day 5 Benito Juarez haha. Keep on going forward brother. Today is my first day clean after going on a little relapse. I feel sluggish, shame, fear but i got through today without using. Easy does it right?

Good job and keep going! I was on the brink of cirrhosis and it's a miracle I came back - it took about 100 days for my updated lab panels to return normal. Healing is possible, to whatever degree we can - like you said, staying sober is the only way to do it.

6 days. It's getting easier. Oddly enough , the thing that gave me the most tools to cope is Noom, which is a weight loss program. People not being in control of what they eat and drinking seem to not be too different. Tomorrow night it'll be 1 week. Yay!

When you're feeling better, the continuation of that feeling is contingent on abstinence from alcohol - if you're getting sick when you STOP drinking, that's a significant symptom of alcoholism.

Normal drinkers that overindulge get sick while they are drunk.

And congratulations on a week sober - I relate with the struggle.

You are a miracle, August. The scariest part about cirrhosis is there are very few symptoms until it's advanced enough that the liver isn't really working at all. At this point, it can quickly lead to other organ failure and a painful death.

Still going strong. 11 days now. I have this growing feeling that this is finally it. I'm done with it. Next mini-goal: 2 weeks. Onwards!

4 weeks sober today. Got trough Xmas. I would have so much enjoyed having a couple of glasses of wine with my wife and son, but we all know that I am not capable of that at the moment, or ever. So I raided my stocking for candy instead and stayed sober.

The good news is that this can be last 'first' day ever again. Good luck.

So true, benito - for us there's no such thing as 'a couple glasses of wine'. Wish it hadn't taken me decades to acknowledge that.
4 wks. - how great !

Any suggestions on how to sleep on Day 1?

This is day 1 for me and I feel awful. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get to sleep?

Hey hon! You may want to create your own post on the main page. You will get more visibility.
Congratulations on Day 1. Sleep is difficult the first few days as your nervous system kicks into overdrive. Do your best to rest, listen to soothing sleepy music (I like yellow brick cinema on YouTube), maybe take a warm bath. Sleep will come! Sleeplessness is normal.
Be careful and go to the ER if you start having any more of the negative physical side effects of withdrawal.
