Good morning my sober fam. I'm at work taking a break. Figure I send a shout out. Well I have some things going on in my life right now. Good things tho so dont panic lol. Anyways so yesterday morning when I got home from work. Had to stay up due to getting counsling done to please the courts for the DUI I got last year. So as I'm waiting for my ride there I receive a text from the Boss at the plant. Letting me know there is an opportunity for advancement in my work field and felt I was a good fit for the job. I was taken a back when told cause like I am at the warehouse so like I see nobody. So I felt good when I was told. So I agreed to do it. I will get like a 5 dollar raise entry . wow. Well I guess you get what you put into it cause I am a good worker. Not to toot my own horn so I'm guessing I was noticed. Mind you I have only been here like 4 months another thing is like I mentioned I am going to counseling. The lady who runs it like to share what I have been doing with my recovery. She does ask me first. Which I have no problem with it. They actually clapped when she told them my sober days. So all in all it was a good day. So now the moment . fam I am 200 days sober today. So life is good. Gotta go. ✌

Every time I read a positive report like this, it is a very good thing. I ask myself, what seems to have changed for this person? While I can never know for sure, I can make common sense assumptions, to learn from.
Each time, it appears that the person has changed their, "Thinking" and changed their life. They weigh their options (abstain, moderate, abuse) and choose the option that made them the happiest-the bigger better offer- reward! Instead of using substitute behavior of drugs an alcohol to regain control of their lives, they use other high value behaviors to empower themselves and regain control.
They learned to control their emotions to work for them instead of against them. They chose new values and purpose, that were more important to them than substance abuse.
When your values trump your addiction, there is no addiction!
