Needing guidance

Hello all,

It’s been a while since I logged on here. Last time I was active on here I managed to stay AF for 4 months. I have since slipped back into drinking...it’s nowhere near the same level as before but I’m feeling caught up in the grips of it again and the same vicious cycle of having a few during the week, on my own, to take the edge off the day and waking up feeling slightly rough. I’ve also started to drink more heavily when out and I have the worst hangover today, feel anxious....all the usual feelings.

I’m coming on here again so that I can gain support and inspiration from you all and to ‘take the reigns back’ as I feel I might be heading down a very unhappy path.

Thanks for reading and will be checking in daily.

Welcome back.

What might you do different this time to support your decision to quit drinking?

That is your decision, isn't it, to quit drinking for good?

Hi Georgie,

When you were sober for 4 months, what did you do besides stopping drinking? What did your recovery plan include and what can you add to it to stay sober for good?

Welcome back Georgie.... I would say it is an unhappy path you are on.

You can do this. Stay close.

Make sobriety no1 priority in your life. Commit to working a recovery program of personal growth and change with rigorous honesty. Things will definitely improve as a consequence over time 🙏

Hi Georgie,

Congrats on coming back!! That is action that you have taken to make a change.

I am on day 7 after gradually drinking a few to take the edge off then full blown bender and I lost everything.
I do not want that to happen to you. One day of a time. Just don't drink today, tomorrow . Maybe mindful of how much better you physically feel?
I can not manage my life by numbing it out with alcohol any longer
I would be more than happy to be a sober buddy we can start this journey together.

Faith

Welcome back Georgie

The best guidance I can give anyone is do whatever it takes not to take that next drink.

Trying to keep alcohol in my life was exhausting futile and self destructive.

Stick with the winners
