A year on from a bottle of vodka everyday.
Congratulations, Kaily! What a wonderful accomplishment. You wrote "I never gave up trying," and there is the key. I thought I was a lost cause, too--but I never gave up, and always carried a little spark of hope, no matter how far gone I was. I got sober for good at age 56 as well, and on 23 Dec I'll have four years. Wishing you all the best on your continuing sober journey.
Kaily,
I’m so proud of you, this was a great post to log in and read. The one year mark isn’t a huge accomplishment, and I hope you took some time to celebrate yourself today. Year two is going to be even better!

Thank you all so much for all the lovely comments.
I do hope if nothing else people take from it that, no matter how bad it gets don't ever stop trying. It doesn't matter how many attempts you make, it is achievable and you only have to succeed once.
Yes lots better thanks. Especially my blood pressure! Only on one low dose medication for that now.

So inspiring and motivational, thank you and huge congratulations on your amazing achievement! Could you imagine if you kept drinking the terrible shape you would be in waking up this today? You are doing fantastic, keep up the good work & thanks again for your post <3

Well done!
I am so proud of you!!
I loved reading your post.
I am over the moon you have reduced your blood pressure readings.
I will be 8 years sober in Feb 2020.
I remember it suddenly becoming very clear.
I was 38.
I remember realising that if I didn't want to feel as bad as I did, I shouldn't drink as much.
I wish you all the best for your future xx
