Follow up to my “Ascites” Post

I went to the hospital Monday to be admitted per my doctor’s orders. They removed 6.8 liters of fluid via Paracentesis. I’ve remained in the hospital as they’ve run all the standard tests on the fluid as well as a slew of other tests.
it turns out, I have an autoimmune disease in which my body attacks healthy organ tissue and it chose my liver. There is no cure. Surely, drinking for 7+ years, very heavily the last few didn’t help speed up the process, but it would have happened eventually.
I’m not sure how to feel right now.

I'm sorry the news wasn't great CRpuravida.

Have your doctors given you any ideas on what it will mean dealing with this auto immune thing?

Not yet. I’m still here in the hospital and am waiting for he GI dr to do his rounds. I got the news from my PCP when he did his rounds.
All I know is that I have wonderful nurses and doctors here who have been so caring and compassionate.

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and I'm sure it's hard not having the full picture. Hopefully there is something that can be done to help you to manage this illness. Please let us know how you are doing.

I’m sorry you’re still in the hospital with what’s now a new concern. Hopefully when your personal doctor comes in to talk you’ll get much more info and a plan for how to proceed. For now, rest and enjoy the hospital food .

Lovely to hear that the doctors and nurses are treating you well.

Kindest wishes.
