Inpatient Detox Bound

Hello everyone - I have had an assessment and made arrangements to check into a inpatient detox facility this coming Friday. This will be my very first time detoxing with the assistance from medical people. I honestly am very much looking forward to it as this lifestyle that I've been living seemingly forever has gotten old and I am tired of it. I will be on here frequently once the detox is done. See you all soon

I wished I had been strong yrs ago like you are
now seeking help for your addiction. Gratefully,
my family stepped in when I wasn't capable of
asking for help, and placed me into the hands of
those knowledgeable to teach me about addiction
and hand me the gift of a recovery program to
incorporate in my everyday life.

That was 29 yrs ago when I entered rehab and
began my sober life and have been on that journey
ever since living, learning, remaining teachable
so that I can continue strengthening my recovery
foundation to live upon enjoying many of lifes rewarding
gifts.

Asking and receiving help for addiction is nothing
to be ashamed of and I see much strength and willingness
in you doing whatever is necessary to get and to learn
how to remain sober for yrs to come.

Listen, learn, absorb and apply as much knowledge
about addiction and its affects on your own mind and
body as well as an effective program of recovery to
incorporate in your everyday life to achieve health,
happiness and honesty moving forward.

Confused...Friday? What will you do until then? I mean if it is booze, by Friday you’ll be through the worst of it. By then you should be looking for a rehab or a sponsor IMO. My experience with detox is that it does one thing, detoxifies you. There’s not a lot of recovery work that goes on there.

I’m not dissuading you, just giving you a heads up. Recovery and detox are two different things.

Still, best of luck. Making the decision to ask for help in any regard is noble and can certainly end up saving your life.

That’s great news Joshua! Make sure they help you find supports nearby that you can use when you are finished with detox.

Looking forward to seeing you when you are back!

Too be honest .... Feel terrible and almost certainly drink each night. I have set up my intake date to correspond with some vacation time and a cleaning company that is coming Thursday to disinfect my basement that recently flooded. If I could hit the fast forward button I would but I have that and some other stuff that needs to be taken care of before i disappear for however many days. I went and spoke to a counselor at the detox place and they will help follow up the detox with an outpatient recovery plan. I will be on here lots seeking advice as well.

That is brilliant news Joshua.

Please make sure you keep reading and posting here as well. For me it has been a lifeline and I too was drinking a bottle of vodka a day everyday.

Hope all goes well.

Good to hear from you JoshuaTreee.

BABM's point is a good one - I know your addicted self is saying its impossible notto but try not to go crazy until Friday - you might even think about posting here regularly this week?

You want to be able to get to detox, not miss it cos you're too drink and/or sick.

We're all behind you.
Best wishes

D

If it's anything like the inpatient detox I went through, which was the best decision I could have made, you'll have various counseling sessions and activities with others also detoxing. Do your best to attend and participate in all of it. I found the information and references I got there to be invaluable; things I hadn't been able to get on my own.

They started counseling and recovery info while I was in detox too Abgator, which was great. It made it a bit easier to ease into the rehab center.
Look forward to watching your journey, JoshuaTree!

I found it enjoyable to float through the introduction to true recovery and therapy while on valium LOL. It took away the fear and anxiety of taking it serious, to where I jumped right into it when I got out. Where before, I had hesitated seeking out help. I attribute that entirely to the amazing staff at the Facility I was in.
