Morning Weekenders,
best of luck at the hospital Mags I hope it is worthwhile.

I think most modern jobs are quite stressful mariposa , that is one of the reasons many of us intoxicated ourselves at the weekend in an effort to escape the stress. Doing that is just fool's gold though. It only makes things worse. It sounds like you are doing really well though so congratulations.

It is the flooring Mags, I live on the 2nd floor which is the top floor. (in the rest of the world I would live on the 3rd floor but in the UK we have a Ground floor represented by a 0) It should also improve the insulation.

First I will have to lift the flooring then CAREFULLY remove all the accumulated gunge from between the joists, put some fire retardant mineral wool down similar to loft insulation. I will put a thin layer of material on the joists "joist cap" then a layer of plywood, a layer of felt type material and the put the floor back. Once it's all back I will probably have to take a centimetre or so off the bottom of the door. All in all it's a lot of faff to not hear my downstairs neighbour's TV and music.

Hi weekenders

Wow that does sound like a mammoth job Sao, but well done you for taking it on

Feeling pretty rough here but not from a hangover, just catching up on sleep. Was still awake at 4 this morning but managed to sleep sometime after so had a lie in.
.Im going carefully with my jobs so as not to panic and feel overwhelmed. Just a bit of sorting out my stuff, and a bit of laundry. But first it's hubby's lunchtime. He always likes fish and chips on Friday but no bother, I just put the frozen battered fish and chips in the oven lol. I won't have any, I only like proper fish and chips from a good f and c shop and we have some good ones round here but I'm not hungry yet. Still filling up on cups of tea.

Then this afternoon I'm babysitting after not being there for over a week. Will be setting boundaries so I'm not there everyday and will have a weekend off to gently get on with much needed house chores.

Well, that's my recipe for today, that and staying sober. Yay, life's getting better

Oh? I thought it would've been so the neighbors downstairs could not hear you...

Hello gang. I'm in!

Thanks Mags for the thread. I very much like the idea of a recipe for sobriety. You could think of it as a combination of healthy, proven, high quality ingredients that work together given some effort and care. Some changes work better than others but we can vary them to keep things interesting. The only difference is that unlike cooking, adding more and more ingredients to sobriety seems to make things better and better...

Anyway, I have made some progress on work projects this week, having previously been worried that they had been put on hold. My AV though has been a bit troublesome with drinking thoughts on Thursday evening. Will have to think about this more as it was troublesome. Still, I'm pressing on with my usual dose of gratitude. Bring on the weekend!

Warm wishes to all. Forwards.

Hey everyone, I'm in as well.

Still sorta emotionally recuperating from last Friday but the feelings have moved to a dull presence in the back of my mind. Much like drinking, they can't hurt me unless I let them. Lots of mental micromanaging.

Good to see you all. Glad everyone is hanging in there.

MLD, I hope you give yourself what you need.

Bim, if you're out there, I still miss you.

Here's to another sober weekend.

Sou, sounds like a big job too. Dragon cracked me up with his gif.

Forwards I agree, lots more ingredients we can use in sobriety, to our taste.

Dpac good philosophy to have and I know from experience it takes time to get where we feel like that. Good to see you.

Hi CK

Harriet you can’t beat good old fish and chips from the chippie.

Home from hospital and gotta do it all again next week. Some question that it could be another lung disease and not asthma. I guess if they find another problem I can be hopefully given the correct meds that’ll be effective.

Been raining here think it’s in for the day. 7

Hello friends.

My beautiful friend Claire died today. At 5 to 5 pm .

Any prayers would be lovingly accepted. I’m not overly religious but this is the first close friend I have lost in my life.

It’s starting to hit me now. I will help a few newbies in the forums then off to bed.
It’s been an emotionally exhausting , sad day today.

Thanks so much in advance and enjoy your weekend wherever in the world you are.

Life is short , enjoy what we have

Much love xxx

Hello weekenders.
Thank you for the OP Mags.
Welcome to the new weekenders.
Just popping in to say I'm in for sure.
Things are going pretty well for me.
I find myself not logging on as often but everything is good. Looking forward to going to rehab in a weeks time. I really think I'm on the mend this time.

Hope you get well soon Mags.

Very sorry to hear about your friend Snoozy.

Goodnight weekenders

reminds me of a joke:
My neighbour knocked on my door at 2:30am...Can you believe that, 2:30am!?

Luckily for him I was still up playing my bagpipes!

sorry for your loss Snoozy.

shout out to Bim, Manta, Captain Haddock & anyone who may be lurking.

Great news VMan! You're going to beat this.

Harriet and Mags prompted me to get fish and chips myself tonight. I have a day off and I'm worn out.

Here's some Peggy Gou from Korea via Berlin and east London.

So sorry for your loss snoozy. It can be such a shock when someone dies, sort of unreal and unbelievable. I'll think of you and say a prayer
