Hanging in there

Hi everyone, I'm on day 15, my first port of call everyday is to log on here and read, I always had the mindset before that I'm not as bad as some, but I was kidding myself, I always said, -"my saving grace was that I ate food while drinking". Isn't it funny the stupid things that go through your drunk head, I really hope I can make it this time, me and the husband fell out yesterday. Nothing serious, but for a second I thought about a drink, but I knew that would only make it worse, I'd be thinking with a drunk nasty head, so anyhoo. I hope you are all well, keep up the good fight x

Congratulations on fifteen days, that's awesome. And good job on not drinking after falling out with your husband.
Yep, a drink won't solve or help anything. Great reasons not to drink.
Keep hanging in there. You'll learn how to deal with things better sober and life in general will be better. Best to you.

congrats on two weeks Boggle

I got into the habit of posting here everyday - I think it made the difference between just taking a break and a permanent change?

15 days is good going and not easy. I’m really glad you didn’t have that drink. I promise you in the coming weeks, that feeling will lessen and lessen.

I can’t believe the thing I wanted when I finished gym last night was a cup of tea 😀 A year ago, it would’ve been a glass of wine.

Boggle, yes, denial is a huge part of alcoholism. I am amazed at the stories I told myself when I was drinking. I think the ultimate story was that I could stop whenever I wanted to.

I'm glad you're here and working on your recovery.

I like this Boggle. I check in every day too. I was very much a drinker who told myself that 'i am not like those people'. Reading this forum each day has helped me step out of denial and come to see how much I lied to myself (and others) about this.

Huge congratulations on being over 2 weeks!

Look you is on a roll. You gonna get thrown curve balls to knock you off your square. Learn to duck and dodge. You'll get better at it the longer you off the sauce. Good job. ✌

Congrats on your wise thinking. You chose the bigger better offer(BBO): because the only way you will stop desiring heavy substances and change your behavior is by seeing more happiness in the change than in the using. You must reach that conclusion yourself because, as Aristotle said, “We desire in accordance with our deliberation.”
