17days sober but....

Having weird withdrawal symptoms. Almost the same symptoms when I stopped my benzo, clonazepam cold turkey, almost 3 years ago but I've been back on my benzo for over a year now. Guessing this is normal seeing as both alcohol and benzos effect the Gaba....our brains. I feel disconnected at times, off balance, feels like I'm not there, foggy...forgetful and many other symptoms I've experienced with withdrawal symptoms I experienced years ago within a week of so after stopping clonazepam cold turkey. So I'm not so worried about it. The symptoms come and go.... Even feel weak and tired at times. I won't go off my clonazepam now. Withdrawing from alcohol is enough. Maybe one day I can slowly taper off my benzo but I doing think quitting both at the same time is a good idea.
Anyhow.... 17 days sober today! Can't wait to reach my 3 week milestone.

17 days is awesome! The physical symptoms you’re describing I think are pretty common but if they’re worrisome a visit to your doctor might be in order.

Congrats on 17 days sober! But you're still in very early recovery so things aren't going to be hunky dory right away. It takes time for our brain and body to get used to normal functioning. Give yourself time. Good food, exercise, and rest can work wonders.

Thank you all. Like I said, the symptoms come and go.... They aren't constant. I can definitely tell they are most likely alcohol withdrawal related. I'll see how things go as I progress in my sobriety. Thanx again all!

Good job on 17 days. Most if not all your problems will dwindle away the longer you are off the sauce. Keep up the good work. ✌

I still suffer at 4 plus years sober. I still crave, but since I still feel damaged from boozing, I don't want to slow any recovery w a relapse.

I get endorphins and dopamine now from so many things. I don't want to mess that up.

I used to wonder why little kids would get so happy for no real reason or from seemingly little things. It is because they have natural and unaltered endorphins.

I have that now and will never give it up.

Thanks.
