Checking Things Out

I was sober for 15 years and started drinking again back in December of 2015. I have been drinking off and on up until about the last 2 or 3 months. I have not had anything to drink. That is mainly because I have been taking care of my boyfriend whose drinking is even worse than mine. It is not a pretty picture and it makes me not want to drink, after seeing how ridiculous it looks. I have just been trying to keep busy and keep my mind on more positive things. I have not had any desire to drink really.

Admitting I could not control my drinking was my first step in recovery. Losing the desire to drink was my first milestone of joy in recovery. And losing the desire opened the way to the challenges that come next.

Welcome to the family. If you're taking care of your bf who has a drinking problem, you may want to take a look at our friends and family forum for more insight from people going thru the same situation.
