7 Days Today

I’m sitting here, on a beautiful Saturday morning, watching my son play baseball. This is the first time I’ve watched him play and been sober in the 4 seasons since he started playing (2yrs). I used to come to every game (even these early 8:00am games) with my “wine cup” that held 4 glasses of wine. That thing is in the trash, and I’ve never enjoyed a baseball game more.

Love this! Great job on a wk. And I have a lot of friends in AA who know exactly what you mean about being sober for the kids baseball games. The dads talk about being that jerk of a coach or fan, so on...and the Yetis etc of wine for moms...so glad you aren't doing that anymore!

So awesome when we value something other than a temporary quick fix or mood changer of alcohol! Life is all about regaining control of our emotions with unhealthy behaviors or healthy behaviors! We want to feel empowered and in control of our feelings! This is something learned. After all, no one gets addicted to a substance or a behavior unless they find it does something for them. It's never too late to change our thinking and change our life.

7 days! What wonderful news, Jaz. I'm so glad you enjoyed the game without the wine - we never really needed it. :)

Congrats on the first of many sober weeks! :) And yes, watching the game sober is so much better.
