That Was Dumb
Cross-posting from the weekenders thread (since not everyone reads there and have been asking about me here).
Checking in.
They say drinking makes drinking more likely. I know that was true for me 5 or 6 years ago. The urge to drink was usually stronger if I had been drinking in the past few days. I had to get some serious sober time before the urge to drink lessened.
Happy to say that isn't true regarding last weekend's relapse/bender/faceplant. My urge to drink is very low. Perhaps because the memory of how terrible I felt on my flight home is still very fresh. Whatever it is, I am grateful for it. I read about people who had years of sobriety and then returned to years of drinking. That will not be me.
Someone offered me a piece of pumpkin bread this morning with the warning, "be careful, it's addictive." I just smiled. Buddy, be grateful you have no idea what addiction is really about.
